Tim Slack, an LSU sociology professor, has been elected president of the Rural Sociological Society and will help elevate research on rural communities while bringing attention to Louisiana’s unique opportunities and challenges.

LSU’s DeepFire research team is using AI to predict wildfires weeks in advance with 90% accuracy, giving fire managers time to act. The multidisciplinary effort showcases LSU’s leadership in research, teamwork, and solutions that protect communities and natural resources.

A cross-campus LSU team is removing barriers to opportunity through the Tailored Tiger Professional Clothing Closet, a free resource providing professional attire to students. Through collaboration and community support, the team is helping Tigers show up confident and career-ready.
